The Nine Basic Cyclical Sectors
There are nine generally accepted basic cyclical sectors. Different market analysts have varying types and sizes of sector listing. The cyclical sectors are:
- Basic Materials
- Capital Goods
- Communications
- Consumer Cyclical
- Energy
- Financial
- Health Care
- Technology
- Transportation
Within each of these sectors, there are further breakdowns of stock industry groupings. For example, under Basic Materials are Paper Products, Iron and Steel, Gold and Silver, etc. Look for good performing stocks in good performing sectors.
